Advice For My Listeners

Dear Friends—Learners and Teachers,

I’m very glad I have so many subscribers. This will incite me to write and record even more TOPs plus additional episodes to “QualityTime-ESL Podcasts” and “Your English”. I produce the audiovisual materials myself. I’m not a professional, and I do not have a wonderful studio but simply a MacBook in my study.

I welcome any technical or other advice

For this reason I sometimes have to record a second or third time, if I am not satisfied with the results once I hear the episodes on iTunes or if I find a better way of recording. Incidentally, I welcome any technical or other advice I can get.

“Reload” the episodes now to get the newest versions

If you are seriously interested in improving your English or the English of your students, I suggest that now and then you “reload” my episodes to get the newest versions—hopefully improved versions. It is very quick. Just delete the whole series “QualityTime-ESL”, “Your English” or “5-Minute TOPs” from the iTunes directory on your computer. Then go to the iTunes store. Type my name “Marianne Raynaud” in the search window and click on “subscribe” for each podcast series. Finally, go to the directory on your computer and click on “get all”. In a matter of minutes you will have all the episodes again in their newest versions.

Assigning these podcasts as homework

If you want your students to work on these podcasts as homework outside of class, tell them the same thing. They should go to the iTunes store, type my name “Marianne Raynaud” in the search window, find the three series “QualityTime-ESL”, “Your English” and “5 Minute TOPs” and click on “subscribe” for each series. They should then go to the directory on their computers and click on “get all”. In a matter of minutes they will have all the episodes and be able to do their oral homework. If they have all the episodes from the start you will be able to assign any episode as homework. Then in class use the worksheets in pair work to see if they have prepared the work correctly. Give one worksheet to each pair and have them alternate being the “teacher”. If they are diligent students, they will progress rapidly. And I can assure you they will be laughing and enjoying themselves during this activity.

I’d be happy to hear your comments and advice

Please write to me if you have suggestions. Bye for now and take care.

Best wishes,

Marianne
