Marianne’s Students Write to Her

Numerous former students have contacted Marianne Raynaud over the years to say how much they appreciated her course and how essential it was to keep up this type of teaching. Ever since Marianne retired, her students have encouraged her to continue composing materials and writing about her way of teaching. "QualityTime-ESL" is an answer to all of those letters and emails full of kind messages.

Below are excerpts from just a few of these letters and emails:

Your English class was by far the best one I have ever had! And for sure it contributed to our present life!

Hi Marianne,

I hope you are doing very well! I watched the video you’ve shared, and it brought up so many good memories! Nicely done!

I am now married to a wonderful wife, Rasha whom I met during my MBA at EM Grenoble. We speak an interesting mix of French and English! We moved to California one year ago to take new responsibilities with ST Microelectronics for me and HP for Rasha. The life is good, and we are learning our jobs in one of the most high-tech places in the world: Silicon Valley!

If you have an opportunity to travel to San Francisco, let us know and we would be extremely happy to host you!

I wish you the best, and hope to see you again soon, maybe in Grenoble!

Your English class was by far the best one I have ever had! And for sure it contributed to our present life!

Cheers,
David Axelrad

QualityTime-ESL Podcasts are in my point of view very useful for a self-training to carry out a complete grammatical revision.

Dear Marianne,

Many thanks for your support and your lessons in the series QualityTime-ESL Podcasts, which are in my point of view very useful for a self training to carry out a complete grammatical revision. The podcast format is so flexible for learning that it is definitely an excellent work approach to improve one’s level of spoken English.

I would like to tell you how thankful I am to have found your podcasts on the Internet, and I got the job!

Dear Mrs. Raynaud,

I would like to tell you how thankful I am to have found your podcasts on the Internet. I had to prepare for a job interview where I knew I had to speak English. I did a "podcast marathon" of several podcasts a day for ten days. The result: I managed to speak English, and I got the job!

It is a great pleasure for me to have the opportunity to improve my speaking skills with your podcasts, and I appreciate the efforts you make to help all these frightened people like me, who are too shy to speak.

Yours,

Timo Henniges from Schwerin, the capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany.

Your course made a big difference in my life.

Dear Mrs. Raynaud,

I’m now a software engineer with Sun Microsystems in Dublin, and quite happily so. Rest assured that your course made a big difference in my life and, from what I hear, in other students’ also. I wouldn’t be where I am now, were it not for your course.
,
I’m in Ireland and have been living here for the better part of three years, and I try to keep in touch with the friends I made back in Grenoble. Recently we were discussing how valuable the English course CPPG’s Classe Prepa had been for all of us.

You see, I never planned to emigrate - rather, I went on holiday to Dublin for a week or so and then decided I liked it so much I wanted to stay. With no job or accommodation lined up, I had to rely on my language skills, my savings, and my wits—in that order—to get by. And that is precisely the kind of situation in which your course and its focus on oral drills and practical matters (introductions, for instance) would prove invaluable.

I see that you’re now running QualityTime ESL. I wish you success in that endeavor and hope many more students can benefit from your work as a teacher.

Thank you ever so much,

Matt Boyer

I feel truly grateful for all you taught us

Dear Ms. Raynaud,

I feel truly grateful for all you taught us, and I still have very sweet memories of your course. And even if it was a great amount of work for us, your students, it has for sure contributed to my current level in English.

Thank you for all the time you invested in the course. I can only imagine that the work we did was nothing compared to yours!

I look forward to seeing you in 10 years or maybe sooner. In the meantime we can all keep up our English by going to your website and working with the exercises that you offer, in particular the podcasts.

All the best to you,

Hej då (Swedish for «See you soon»)

Christophe Royer

You largely contributed to my current level in English.

Dear Ms. Raynaud,

First of all, I’ve received your email concerning the authorization to use my image, and I’d like to tell you that I will be very proud to be part of your video project. Now, as you can see, I’m able to speak very good English, and you largely contributed to my current leve.

Thank you for everything.

Jérémie Griva

Thanks to your course at CPPG, I was able to obtain a very high TOEFL score and thus come to Canada.

Hi Mrs. Raynaud,

I’m currently an exchange student in Canada at the University of Ottawa. It’s a bilingual university, but my courses are in English.

My speaking skills have improved quite a lot since I came to Canada; even if my French accent is still quite strong, and I have some pronunciation problems with the sound ’R’.

Thanks to your course at CPPG, I was able to obtain a very high TOEFL score and thus come to Canada. I think I was very lucky to have had you as a teacher.

Sincerely yours,

Yann Fauché

I wish to thank you for all the courses that allowed us to reach such a good level in English.

Dear Mrs. Raynaud,

I would be very pleased to be part of your video project. And I wish to thank you for all the courses you gave us that allowed us to reach such a high level in English.

Best wishes,

Safia Farhat

I think I’ve improved so much in just 3 days!

Dear Marianne,

A short message to tell you how happy I am about this past weekend I spent with you. I feel “dynamized” and motivated by English. I think I’ve improved so much in just three days! And in a very friendly and joyful atmosphere.

It was for me a chance to meet you. I would be glad to tell others about your seminars.

Yours,

Marie Gaudin - Lyon
